'My Lovely Kim Sam Soon' was by far one of if not
the best dramas that I have ever seen. Its a Korean drama that came out last year some time I think. And it won a whole bunch of well-deserved awards. Here a brief synopsis:
Its basically about Kim Sam Soon (Kim Sun-Ah), a 30-year-old plump pastry chef. In the beginning of the very first episode she follows her boyfriend to a hotel on Christmas Eve night (or is it Christmas?) only to discover that he is there with another woman. She is basically dumped and humiliated by him in front of everyone, so she runs off crying. It is at this point that she meets the arrogant, smart alecked, and somewhat condescending Hyun Jin-heon (Hyun Bin), a 27 year old big shot with a chip on his shoulder (freaking wet-behind-the-ears-punk XD). Their first meeting isn't touching or anything like that. Its actually quite comical as a matter of fact! Anyway, the destinies of Kim Sam Soon and Hyun Jin-heon become intertwined from the very beginning. Some things happen that leads Jin-heon to ask Sam-soon to pretend to be his girlfriend and the fun starts from there people ^^
Oh man! There was this one funny part where....
*lol* XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD *lol* I must have laughed at that part like a million times. Then there was this other part where....
That part was also kind of side-busting. This drama is filled with just the right amount of drama and just the right amount of comedy to keep people entertained. Now, I don't know by what standard that it was decided that Kim Sam-soon wasn't all that attractive. She wasn't fat, or plump as I said earlier. She just wasn't 95 lbs (43 kg) like her competition. Not that I have anything against small girls or anything. I myself barely weigh 128 lbs! But it was refreshing to see a leading lady who was so true to life, you know? And anyway I thought that she was rather cute. Pretty actually. This is the same little chick from
'Attic/Roof top Cat' by the way.
One thing that annoyed me from time to time was Jin-heon's old love interest. I so wanted to hate her and in some ways I did. But in some instances I kind of tolerated her. I never liked her until the very end of the show. Another thing that bothered me was Jin-heon and his stupid hang ups. His immaturity is cute sometimes....and then at other times its really aggrivating -__-.
But man, was this a great drama. I'm kind of scared that I won't find anything like it in the future. I said the same thing about
'Succesful Bright Girl' and
'Antique' . Its rare for me to find dramas that I just want to watch again and again and again.
So anyway, having said that:
ryoko293,
pyrefly, and if you're interested in this kind of thing
winterwaltz6, I
demand...
beg... strongly urge you guys to give it a try. I found the links to the first episode on youtube dot com (even though I bought the box set off of ebay for $36.92 and burned a hole in my pocket). I especially urge
ryoko293to give it a try seeing as how we're jdrama comrades and all. Ne imouto-chan ^__~?
pyrefly, I just remembered that you were watching a Korean drama sometime ago (maybe about two weeks ago) and so I just thought that I'd recommend this one to you too ^^. And
winterwaltz6, I don't know if this kind of stuff is your cup of tea, but just give it a try okay?
Anyway, here's
part 1 and here's
part 2. If you want to see more then just go to youtube dot com and type in "
Kim San Soon". Kind of low quality, but not horribly low. I've gotten some pretty low quality episodes of '
Bleach' and have been perfectly fine with it *shrugs*. It shouldn't be too bad.
Ooooh! By the way, and this is kind of helpful. Try to let the media run for at least a good 45 mins before you watch them. Why? Because it freezes up and plays slow the first time a round. When you watch it the second time around it'll play smoothly. If you've ever used youtube before you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
Please enjoy and tell me what you think. Okay.
